Head first Surface Dive

  • Swim to a point just slight before the point where the object is to be recovered
  • Pull arms wide to shoulder level
  • Good hip bend
  • Pull arms back to face
  • Streamlines body position by lifting both legs clear of water to a vertical position
  • Allow weight of legs to aid in descent.

Feet First Surface Dive

  • Swim to location for descent
  • Take a deep breath
  • Raise body upwards by pushing downwards with hands and kicking with legs
  • Point toes and swing hands upwards (locking your elbows and palms pull upwards)
  • Hold body erect
  • Allow gravity to aid in descent
